Community Natural Resources Governance
LANABLA has identified strengthening Community Based Natural Resources Governances as an important step in empowering the organizations to champion the cause of natural resources management. Using rights based approaches, LANABLA will strive to strengthen Community Forest Associations, Water Resources Users Associations, Beach Management Units, among other CBNRM organizations, to realize their mandates and hold county governments and national government responsible in improving NRM and providing better services.
LANABLA will also enhance public participation in decision making especially in use and extraction of natural resources in their vicinity as entrenched in the constitution. This will also include provision of Free Prior Informed Consent (FPIC) for the state, county governments, institutions or organizations to inform community members prior to establishment of a project, enactment and adoption of legislations that may have bearing on their livelihoods.
