Who gets a seat at the table? Whose voice is heard? And who risks being left behind?

At the Lake Naivasha Basin Landscape Association (LANABLA), we believe that sustainable development is only possible when everyone has an opportunity to participate, contribute, and benefit. Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) must not be treated as an afterthought it must be integrated into every stage of project design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.

Through the Together for People and Planet (ToPP) Project, supported by WWF-Kenya, we recognise the importance of inclusive environmental governance that values diverse perspectives and promotes meaningful participation in decisions affecting people and the environment.

Women, youth, persons with disabilities, and other underrepresented groups must have meaningful opportunities to influence decisions, shape environmental solutions, and benefit equitably from sustainable development initiatives.

Achieving meaningful inclusion requires more than inviting people to participate. It means identifying and removing barriers, listening to diverse voices, promoting accessibility, and ensuring that participation translates into real influence and opportunities.

As we advance environmental conservation and sustainable natural resource management, GEDSI remains an essential consideration in building equitable, resilient, and sustainable communities.

Inclusion is not a favour. It is fundamental to lasting change.

At LANABLA, we believe that when every voice counts, our collective impact becomes stronger. Together, let us build a future where no one is left behind.

Together for People and Planet. Advancing inclusive environmental governance for people and nature.
