LANABLA, in collaboration with key stakeholders in the Lake Naivasha Basin, recently met with the Member of Parliament for Naivasha to review the Fisheries Management and Development Bill 2024, currently under discussion in the Parliament Kenya.

This bill aims to provide a legal framework for the sustainable management and development of Kenya’s fisheries sector. During the meeting, LANABLA and stakeholders identified key gaps within the bill and proposed amendments to enhance its effectiveness.

Some of the key areas of discussion included:

✅ Addressing sustainability challenges in Lake Naivasha
✅ Ensuring equitable access to fisheries resources for local communities
