The Directorate of Environment recently participated in a dynamic three-day strategic lobbying forum organized by the Lake Naivasha Basin Landscape Association (LANABLA). The forum’s primary objective was to advocate for the allocation of county resources toward the development and operationalization of the Nyandarua County Waste Management Policy, Bill, and Regulations.

Effective waste management requires a cohesive, well-funded governance framework. To address this, the workshop brought together key stakeholders from relevant county departments, regulatory agencies, and municipalities. Together, participants critically reviewed Nyandarua County’s current waste management framework and identified existing gaps in governance.

The forum successfully transitioned participants from problem identification to strategic, long-term commitments, culminating in a validated action plan.

Beyond creating a roadmap for policy advancement, the three-day engagement provided an essential platform for building stakeholder consensus. It significantly strengthened cross-sector coordination, enhanced the collective understanding of public finance processes, and laid a solid foundation for the mobilization of resources necessary to build effective legislation.

Moving forward, the implementation of these agreed-upon actions will contribute significantly toward sustainable waste management, environmental conservation, and improved public health outcomes within Nyandarua County.
