LANABLA is supporting public participation on the Nyandarua County Waste Management Bill and Draft Policy across all six sub-counties of Nyandarua County: Nyandarua South, Kinangop, Kipipiri, Ol Kalou, Ol Jororok, and Nyandarua North.

The public participation process provides an important platform for community members and stakeholders to share their views, experiences, concerns, and recommendations on the proposed waste management framework. Community input is essential in shaping legislation and policies that address local waste management challenges and promote sustainable environmental practices.

Through these engagements, the process seeks to strengthen citizen involvement in policy development, promote accountability, and support an inclusive approach to environmental governance. It also creates opportunities to incorporate community perspectives into decisions affecting waste collection, disposal, resource recovery, environmental protection, and public health.

In line with the ToPP Project’s commitment to inclusive and evidence-informed environmental governance, attention to Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) remains important in ensuring that diverse community voices are considered throughout the process.

Public participation is a vital step towards developing a responsive waste management framework that supports environmental sustainability and healthier, more resilient communities across Nyandarua County.
